Lucid Dreaming

Post by Darkjedi on 2011-03-06, 22:26

Read the link. v

http://www.world-of-lucid-dreaming.com/wake-induced-lucid-dreams.html

I've been doing this since I was an early teen, and didn't even know it had a name until I bumped into it on the internet.
(Started off as DILD, and then I made my own WILD method in the beginning there.)

Though, the textbook method is more effective than the method of how I originally did this. I've learned a few things from research now. Anywho, it can be quite amazing if you do it right.

Tips:

1. Wrap yourself in a blanket and don't move.

IDK, the blanket helps me. I guess it's an emotional security thing. But I've found that the not moving part is a necessity for me. (brings on sleep paralysis, that's good. Don't freak out if you feel it.)

2. Get earplugs. They work wonders!

It's a lot more difficult to do this without them. Outside noises can disturb you, and drag you out real quick if you aren't careful.

3. When you're in the shallow stages of dream control, don't guide yourself into complex images immediately. Rather, make your advancement gradual. Otherwise, you might wake up. Even when you get in deep, try to create a mental block toward anything that could snap you back to reality, or even make up excuses for the "glitches" in the dream. You'll be able to feel these triggers when you're there.

For example, I don't read much in my dreams. Too much to process. Plus, you risk waking up, because it's very difficult to read while dreaming. You'll see... LOL It's actually quite strange when you notice your limitations. Sometimes the letters won't look right, or even make sense.

If you feel like you're drifting out of the lucid dream, try rubbing your hands together, or spinning. I've never tried it, but Wikipedia suggested it.

4. In stage 3 of the guide on the link, your body might twitch a bit on occasion. It's just your brain testing to see if your body has shutdown completely. (I think) This might wake you up, but after practice, you'll be able to keep moving deeper into the sleep/dream cycle.

5. If you panic too much, or die (obvious) in the dream state, you will wake up. So, try to hold onto just that one strand of reality, that says "This is a dream", otherwise it takes a little longer to get out of a nightmare. Not much longer, but still, hey, no one likes being eaten by zombies.

Note: If you don't hold onto that strand of reality, you might end up loosing control of the dream. For example, in one of my deepest Lucid dreaming sessions, I ended up not waking up during a torture endurance test. But, when it got bad I woke up, of course. Really freaked me out when I woke up though, because it felt so real. Heck, I thought I was going to die in that dream. I even remember praying for endurance, in the dream!

6. I know a lot of you are going to try this, so I might as well tell you. Sexual fantasies are very difficult to get into. I almost always wake up when the banging starts. LOL But sometimes... I don't.

Now I must note that I don't create those anymore. My conscience stops me. LOL "Mal won't let me."

Yes, this really works. And no, I am not on Vicodin and watching Inception while typing this. Razz

Oh, and keep a dream log. Write in it immediately after waking up so that you don't forget your sessions.

BIG NOTE:

Yes, this sounds fakey inceptionish, but do a reality check after you wake up. I've never had bad things happen to me, but just imagine the stupid/bad stuff you can do if you think you're in a false wake.

http://www.dreamviews.com/wiki/Reality-Checks

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_awakenings

Smelling seems to work best. I always wake up immediately after taking a deep breath of dream air. But, I need to make a habit of doing the internet check. That's the only one that seems solid. Because with my memory, I could probably simulate most details of my operating system in dreamspace.

Another note: I'm not supporting this, but drugs kinda help, and they also kinda don't.

They mess my dreams up more than they help. (No, I don't do drugs anymore. For those of you that don't know) Sometimes when I used funpills, I would get in a Repetition (look at the false awakenings wiki link above ^). Not. Cool.

Don't use drugs kids.

I also must warn you, this can become an obsession. I was obsessed with it for a good year or so, now I'm just passionately interested.

If you want to really get into this, here's some links (don't forget to check out their forum too):

http://www.dreamviews.com/wiki/Dream-Stabilization-and-Clarity-Tutorial

http://www.dreamviews.com/wiki/DEILD-Tutorial

http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/my-tutorial-extending-lucid-dream-time-hours-ld-94752/

http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/archetype-control-elegant-tool-104409/

^ The last link there is REALLY interesting. If you're going to read anything, read that first. As you become better at dream control, you'll learn a lot about how your mind works. It's really amazing!

Well... I'm probably going to end up falling into an abyss of depression, fear and pant pissing, but oh well. I guess I'll give it a try during the easter holidays.

Do I see a TL;DR summary at the end? That would be a negative.

this would be freakin sweet to be able to "master." I don't think I'll try it though, i don't want to be sleeping during the day. I definitely don't want to be falling asleep consciously, its hard enough for me to fall asleep already.

and same here leach, i get a lot of dreams that could be made into box office topping movies.

Lee, don't swear like that. Nobody's ever really done it here so it's not been an issue, but I won't tolerate it.

On another note, wasn't a machine invented not to long ago that images dreams? It was pretty cool actually, the images were blotchy and blurry, but you could make them out

You're just freaking out when you're hitting sleep paralysis. Very common, but it's amazing that you got that far on the first try.

Just learn to calm yourself, and keep at it. It's taken me years, but now I can create and control buildings, people, and even "fall" into completely different dream environments. I'm not what I would call a master yet, but I'm pretty damn good.

Now I'm working on Archetype control. I'm able to change lighting with my cellphone, and I'm able to fly at low altitudes by simply thinking about being shot out of a cannon in Mario LOL.

I've been able to go out of body a few times too. Now, it's really cool when you can do that. Though, I prefer to stay in my body.

Oh, and Lee, try late morning if you can. Any time I sleep in, and then wake up, I find it easier to do. It's easier to DILD that way too. (Which is just as good)

They had something like that on an episode of house, but I'm sure it's fake. They'd have to crack the brain code in order to do that.

Huh... I had a really short dream, and it was kind of strange, too... I wrote something on here, and someone gave it negative rep. I think i figured out who it was somehow and wanted to give him a - for some reason, but when i saw the - button, i thought ''Wait a second... Didn't we remove that? What the hell is going on?''

I think it ended after that.

I have no idea why i dreamt about that, or how i managed to figure out I'm dreaming.

If you want to wake up, just wake up. I used to just say wake up, and I'd wake up. This may be too advanced for you, but now I usually just create a locked door in my dreams, and when I'm ready to wake up, I pull the key out of my pocket, unlock it, and walk through it.

The door is best for me, because it's easier to keep more anchored in the dream, and more in control of waking up.

Oh, and you won't wake up paralyzed. It's more like a response delay. Can freak you out if you aren't used to it though. I only feel it every now and then.

Inception was in the works for nearly 8 years before it was released. And you should see it, it's pretty much the best movie of 2010

There have even been extensive scientific studies on it. Just read the wiki page, and you'll find out.

Heck, if it wasn't real, than how do you think I succeed and excel in doing it?

@ Lee

How could have you not seen inception?

I suppose all movies are based on real life somehow, and inception seems a bit crazy to not be based on something real. But the shared dreams thing is utter rubbish.

Actually, it's quite of theory actually... Some experts on the dream thing believe that, people who get their brain waves sincronized can actually share dreams...

Inception is yea, just as mindboggling as the matrix, infact the matrix is easier to understand. The human sub consious is fascinating and so simple yet so complex.

ah Lucid dreaming, yea I do it almost all the time without trying. down side is that some of my dreams have been really scary lately due to the earthquake. DJ try making a TARDIS in your dream they are freaking awesome! can lead to some really interesting situations.

but yea good post on it. Its totally worth dreaming like that.

Note: sleep paralysis is scary but you come out of it after 10 mins usualy.

High Five

A TARDIS? Good idea! It might take a few tries, but I'll probably get the hang of it.

So wait, how long have you been dabbling in dreamspace? And how good are you at dream control?

Any tips you have? Do you need any tips?

You seem like the type that would exceed in this. (After all, we are strikingly similar in our thinking patterns)

I think the hardest thing to get the hang of is dream control.

At first, you'll probably freak out and wake up once you gain lucidity. But in time, you should be able to gradually get better and better.
