Avatar's ending sucked...
From the hostage thread
Speaking of throwing logic and reason out the window, am i the only one who thinks the ending of Avatar was ridicilously badly thought out? It's been bugging me to death for 2 weeks. I mean, both sides are going to end up in trouble. Unobtanium must be so ridicilously valuable because it has an incredibly important use, like powering FTL drives or something we can't be without. Earth won't just go ''oh well, screw this, tell all ships to stay away from pandora''. We'll send in a proper military ship this time, with nukes and a crapload of elite soldiers trained in pandoran warfare plus a shitload of mechs instead of the tiny rent-a-cop force the Na'vi (barely) defeated.
And this time, we know the entire eco system will want to protect the Na'vi, so we'll probably kill every single living being near the mining sites, and set up some really heavy defenses this time. And when we defeat the Na'vi, they'll have to give up more than just a big tree. They'll either end up extinct from the orbital bombardment, enslaved or sent off to some tiny barren reservation on pandora where they won't disturb us.

Re: Avatar's ending sucked...
Do remember I think it takes six/seven years for them to get to Earth and Earth to Pandora, so the Na'vi got a good 12 years before the shit will start flying
But yeah, very poorly thought out ending

But y'know what urks me more than Avatar, the fact that he re-released it with a whole extra 8 minutes in theatres (fortunately we didn't get it) and that there's TWO MORE!!!!

Well, i doubt they'll be able to go from bow and arrow to assault rifle and orbital WMD delivery. Pretty much all we need to get all that unobtanium is a ship packed with nuclear silos or some other kind of WMD. They go extinct along with everything else on the planet, and we get the unobtanium. Or it could be used to target all the major tribes, kill them off and then send the survivors to some random place without any unobtanium.

Sigh... And those two will be more popular than bacon wrapped sex with marshmallow sauce... That's just sad.
Well, we might at least see the ending adressed in 2. Or maybe it'll just be ''Avatar: Frolicking in the forest and having hairsex''.

Re: Avatar's ending sucked...
Unfortunately movies (especially massively popular ones) don't have to follow the rules of logic and reason and instead follow the idea of silly plots and bizarre deus ex machina devices

Oh, and the ''Romance or gtfo'' rule. All successful movies must have at least one love interest, no matter how much sense it makes. This was refined in Titanic to making the entire movie into a guy trying to hump a love interest with some CGI porn at the end and a kindly old lady to narrate it. The result was a metric shitload of cash.

Re: Avatar's ending sucked...
I've never watched Titanic. Never could pull myself around to watching it. And I meant to watch Dances with Wolves after having watched Avatar last year, as apparently Avatar is just Dances with Wolves in space (except DWW is a very good movie from what I hear)

If i remember correctly, it was shit. Just some poor guy being huggly wuggly to some rich chick for hours, then the boat sank. It's mind blowing that something like this can make so much money.

Heh, I used to do so much research on the Titanic. It'd probably make my insides hurt if I watched the movie because it's probably highly inaccurate

Instead of destroying the Stuff that costs million per a few grams, with nukes, use Biological Warfare, gas them with somethink, it will also effect the plant life and other stuff, so once this probe had unleashed it's pay-load, the carriers come along and build there camp again, on this now desert Planet.
In the Future, no body will care if an Primitive alien race, is stopping you from getting your prize, they'll kill it.
Wasn't Avatar set 23rd century or the 25th?

Actually, it isn't just that everyone doesn't care. In humanity's eyes, the Na'vi massacred a bunch of colonists for no reason (thanks to propaganda probably). And unobtanium costs millions per few grammes, so it's probably essential for humanity's survival and advancement. If people have to choose between a bunch of bloodthirsty cat smurfs and humanity's survival, the choice is obvious.

Re: Avatar's ending sucked...
Best tactic in a war is propaganda, AVATAR II, will be about Earth sending a Blood fristy fleet to kick ass, but because it's a movie, the Na'vi now have space travel.

I laughed at unobtanium. But other than the absolutely amazing graphical qualities, I didn't really see much appeal with Avatar. The dialogue was just cringe-inducing and the ending was definitely poorly planned. I can't believe they're actually going to make a sequel to this either, if what you people are saying is true.

I wonder what it would be like to have hair sex?
If I could get my own navi avatar, I would totally do it.
