Starfleet has about 100 vessels, each holding atleast 100-500 People

Thats about 500,000 People in starfleet, but we know that starfleet has over 1 Trillion People in it.

Not to mention Starfleet is made up of over 500,000 Systems eahc holding over 1 Billion People.

Umm, how can Starfleet only have 100 ships? Cause some of the Starfleet task forces in DS9 would have like 120 starships per fleet and this excluded the allied ships such as the Romulans and klingons

Before The Federation Fleets, got there asses handed to them. they had about 2000 ships in a fleet and probably a few hundred still scattered. And they were able to construct 3 or 4 frames a week.

There must exist at least a half a dozen of those fleets (since the higher number I heard was 6th), so maybe 10k ships?

Well I know in DS9 there were fleets named as high as like the 12th and 16th fleets and stuff like that. Perhaps this warrants some research

Remember though, it's in Starfleet's mandate that they are not a military force. Do remember, Peacekeepers do not use weapons. The term is greatly misused and many thinks it's troops that are fighting for peace, when in fact it's unarmed people utilizing diplomacy and law that are actually Peacekeepers, that's Starfleets role. This is also why Starfleet is not allowed to build warships

Starfleet would of trumped the Dominion, if they had one ship per a Light year.

25,000 light years = 25,000 ships, against the dominion force of about 10,000 ships you do the math. Peacekeepers or not, you need a lot of ships for Space defence.

Unofficially, officially, the only reason they're allowed weapons on their ships is because of the dangerous nature of the unknown and defense is required. Starfleet is not an offensive weapon, nor a weapon at all in all technicality. The Federation isn't allowed a military force

Re: Star Trek Reccuring Plots

Because if it had one, it ends up putting Earth in the seat of power and makes it like the other governments such as Romulan and Klingon where force could easily become the primary use of governing, so to prevent that and to maintain peace among the other systems, the Federation can't have a technical military because it defeats the purpose of peace, thus "humanitarian armada" which is basically saying, a peaceful force that isn't technically a military, but can be strong enough to pose a threat to those who stand in the way of peace Smile

Mind you, this is late 23rd into 24th century. Starfleet in the 22nd century was primarily and legally called a military force as it was the primary defense of earth

Re: Star Trek Reccuring Plots

Post by Evil Person on 2010-11-15, 15:28

My question is, if starfleet and the federation cant make Military Vessels, how come.

The Akira wich is clearly a battleship with its 42 Photon Torpeto Tubes.

Steamrunner with its long range cannon thing.

Need i say more, it can pwn a borg sphere with 4 quantom torpetoes, it took voyager a 29th century borg drone that had almost unlimited knowlage.

Antimatter Mines, A Cloak, Classified as a battleship, really?

So starfleet isent a military force, i understand.

Reasons why starfleet is a Military Force.
- One Nebula Class Science Ship can Pwn half the cardassian fleet.
- The Defient, Akira, Steamrunner, And Soverign Class Starships.
- One Photon Torpeto can Destroy the Lysian High Command (I mean if they only have lasers, and starfleet isent allowed to have battleships, technically shouldent the only thing starfleet can have is lasers and pulsecannons)
- Three Words Ablative Hull Armor
- Two Words Tranphasic Torpetoes
- Two Words Deflector Shields

Reasons Why Starfleet Isent a Military Force.
- The 50 Science Stations in every sector
- They Banned Cloakes (Wait, diddnt the Defient have a cloak though?)
- They have minimal ships

Wait, Starfleet is a military force, though they deny it, not to mention the borg go after them all the time when they could go after the Vulcans, Lysians, Klingons, Ect.

It's in technicalities of the language. For instance, the Defiant is classified as a simply escort. Voyager is classified as a science and research ship. The Sovereign class is a deep space exploration ship, the Akira and Steamrunner are short range defense if memory serves

That's because Enterprise makes it look like there the only humans with ships. With the UEN, just never being there when there needed. But not long after the Formation of the Coalition of Planets they formed with Starfleet or somethink like that.

Because EP, can't actually make a valid point, i shall ignore his, over balanced post.

Re: Star Trek Reccuring Plots

EP, the Akira, has 15 tubes, and is half the the length of a Galaxy, the Steam runner doesn't have a 'Long rage thing', and if you payed attention to the battle of Sector 001(somethink you didn't do), the Borg cube was heavily damaged. Because it was in the middle of a battle, every ship was damaging it, then when the Prize come s a lot in a ship designed to combat, the Borg, they target an area, which the Borg aren't protecting. And with the combined might of 21 vessel they destroy an already weakened Cube.

The Defiant, I've no idea were you got the idea it was a Battleship, all she is a Warship, that is no ware near a Battleship. her cloak was given to them from the Romulans, And it doesn't have 'Anitmatter mines' that is from a non cannon game.

EP, before you try to argue make sure you know it's correct, if i missed any think, it's cause i can only use my keybaord, cause my mouses batteries ran out.

Just be careful when using the movies as a basis for strength canon cause some of those ships were doing more damage to the cube than what is realistic for the ST universe. Creative liberties were taken to make the battle look cool and have a big explosion to move the plot forward

I think they were mostly an exploration and peace keeping force till they discovered the borg and went to war with the cardassians and dominion. It's around then that they started being a good defence force too, not just a militia of exploration ships that gets called in whenever someone gets pissed with the federation.

No, but most of what happens in series can't be considered canon either due to its inconsistencies

the Borg cube was heavily damaged.

1. The Galaxy Class only has 2 Torpeto Tubes

2. I said the sphear that came out of it at the end wich clearly wasent damaged.

3. Multiplying mines, whatever they are that they deployed on one side of the wormhole, and anyway, if its a warship, starfleet isent allowed to build war anything.

Yes, but during war-time, exceptions are made. And remember, the Defiant doesn't naturally deploy mines
