ok first instaling software easy way:
your distro will have a maned excutable file Red Hat based ones have .rmp
Debian based ones like ubuntu .deb but these are not the way to install thing Red Hat based distros will use Red Hat Package Manager.
Debian has two Aptitude a xterm based one and Synaptic Package Manager use these listed items first.
if your software is a tar.gz open xterm and type:

tar xvf .tar.gz
./configure
make
sudo make install
and .bin
chmod 755 .bin
REMEBER You must be root to install software. ask for me than software i will guide anything in linux

Is there enough linux software for your wacom bamboo tablet? If not, then I wouldn't try to double-boot or anything.

the PC has 8 USB ports on it. It is USB compatible. Anything USB will connect to the PC. I can plug in any device that is USB 2.0 compliant or I think even 1.0. USB is supported. There, does that cover it?

Anything that looks like that will connect

True, since a large number of those small advanced electronic devices (like a PlayStation, one of those e-frames (I think it's called this way) and several other things have the Unix karnel inside.
