Well, I still hate double-posting, but I have to make sure all of you know the extremely long delay in making this game. It's COMPLETELY ADOBE'S FAULT! They have stopped downloading the free trials to their Macromedia Studio programs until July the 1st! Just reminding everyone that didn't get the last posts I made.

Anyways, during that time I will work on a quick plug-in which was requested to me by 15755 in which you can buy rare stations and uber ships. I know it's a simple plug-in, but aside from the game that's all I'll have time to do. I'm so busy with my roleplaying and writing I barely have time for programming anymore. But once Adobe starts to let me download their trial versions of Studio, I WILL get straight back to work on what I now call 'FlashTrek: Parallels'. Reason why it's FlashTrek is because it takes place in the Star Trek universe... Just with the other universes combined XD

Between now and that time if I MANAGE to make time, I'll get to work on a few random plug-ins, maybe even that Dominion/Romulan plug-in XP

Heh, well I'm not technically pirating. See, Windows isn't letting me register it, so it continuously fails every 30 days. So then I have to go and reisntall it, and every time I do it seems to count me as a new IP address, even though I'm not using a new computer. So if it's anybody's fault, point the finger at Microsoft XD

But sooner or later I'm going to get Vista, so then it won't matter anymore! cheers

Read my sig... Vista isn't worth it... My mother's PC has Vista, and my computer with that amount of RAM (2GB) would be faster than light, and my mother's, is slower than mine, when it had 256 MB of RAM...

I concur. The Windows emulator I am using to work on it from runs XP, but has absolutely no sound or 3d graphics. The graphics part I can handle (just can't play many games except for Flash ones), but having no sound or music means when I was doing the sound effects (still am a bit) and the music, I would have to save a backup copy of the fla file before making the change, replace one of the sound/music files in the fla file with one of my own and hope that my assumption is right (that it is the correct sound or song I want to replace), then save it and upload it to MediaFire, then download it to my actual harddrive (my windows emulator runs off a virtual one), and then try it. It's a pain.

But I'm almost done with the sound effects and music in the game anyways. Well, this is almost it! July the first is almost here, and that means Adobe should start letting me download the program again! And soon, I will definitely buy it so this won't be such a problem anymore. Even though it is clearly Microsoft's fault, I don't want to end up getting the blame.

I want to replace Starfleet in the game with the Independents, since Starfleet was running around with other species ships last time I played it (unless it was just a much older version). Then I'll move Starfleet somewhere else amongst the player controlled governments. This would mean I'll have to change many of the government's logos throughout the game to meet the change, especially on the menu. But if I don't, Starfleet will start bungling around in Borg cube car-pools. Then you'll be scratching your heads. scratch

So insofar, here is my revise list of playable species:

Independent
Star Wars (Rebel Alliance)
Stargate (SG-Command)
Battlestar Galactica (Twelve Colonies)
Bablyon 5 (EarthForce)
Starfleet
Galactic Empire

The Terran Empire will probably be one of the hidden races. Here's a revised list of the hidden races I'm thinking of using so far:

Terran Empire
The Replicators
The Shadows

I've already got the Terran Empire and Shadow ships entered into the game, and there is one (albeit ugly) replicator ship for the SG-Command faction, though of course the Replicators should probably be less trusted than any of the others. Though I'm also considering using the Wraith instead, since I'm sure I can find Wraith ship sprites better than I can Replicator ones. Basketball

The Galactic Empire IS the Star Wars empire. Star destroyers, TIE fighters, Death Star, and all.

and the NSCA protector?


I still have not come up with a sprite of the NSEA Protector yet. (NSEA stands for 'national space exploration agency') So maybe not. If I do though, it'll be a hidden buyable ship, or a non-playable one. Dunno what the weapon layout would be for it though.

It is July the 4th! And finally Adobe has opened up to downloading again! Except now I have to reinstall Windows today and that will take up most of today's time. I'm afraid I won't be able to get to editing today because of it. I have to make a new virtual harddrive with 512 MB of ram instead of the wimpy 192 MB it gave me originally. That will require a little more tweaking on my part, but I know how to do it, so it should be over with soon. Given that the Windows installation is cooperative this time.

Onwards! I'll have Windows installed by tomorrow and let everyone know how it's going. By the way, about my 'uber' plug-in, I decided that since it's also too simple to make I wouldn't make it. But if somebody would like to try (especially someone who hasn't made a plug-in before) be my guest. You'll get full credit. Hopefully it will start you on your own plug-in quest as well. Basketball
